I've hit this problem so many times when you mistype something in the search box in Start Menu. And it would always open Edge and perform Bing search when you clearly didn't want or intend to do. Thankfully, here is a relative easy fix (through registry):

1) Open "registry" program: Start -> Run -> "regedit"
2) Navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search"
3) Create a new DWORD value (Right click -> "New ..." -> "DWORD (32-bit) Value") and set it to "0".
4) Close the registry editor and test it.
